#1, your doc booked an "urgent" appointment but didn't tell you when it is???? Does anyone else wanna go, "Huh???"
#2, what I do is beer (generally only after 5 pm), coffee (generally only during the morning), music (when I can), and humor. Books and TV also help.

Fresh air anywhere helps. Sunshine, too, if it's available. Breathe in and out slowly and try to relax all your muscles.
Avoid too much time on the Internet, or watching TV. Seriously.

too much TV, is what I meant. Some helps me. I'm selective. Gilmore Girls, for example. I'm very unhappy if I can't watch Gilmore Girls, even in reruns. The Fall 2006 premiere is Sept. 26, btw.

Yeah, it's good in small doses. But if you get stuck in front of the TV in several hours, your mood will change from bad to worse.

Whatever you do, don't watch network news or even CNN. Get your news from the newspaper, or better yet, a news magazine you like, or even better, NPR. TV news will only make you more uptight and fearful, becuz it panders to worse-case-scenario fears, and it's very conservative. If you must have a TV news fix, get it from The Daily Show with John Stewart.

things that make me happy:
records, cds, tapes, bootlegs, etc. playing guitar, doesn't matter if i'm playing acoustic or slashing distorted mayhem. the simpsons. foster's home for imaginary friends. futurama. the oc (even thought i'm not too keen on it's last season and i'm avoiding the reruns). cigarrettes (not so much lately). sex (not happening so much lately). |
