Ridley Scott is set to direct and produce a NEW Blade Runner film. no mention as to whether it's a sequel or a prequel, but it won't be Director's Final Last Ever Remix Cut (No Really) Collector's Edition.
Decker runs away with a unicorn? Murder Kick Squads in action? Nexus II??? discuss: ps: find your own damn links, lasy bastards. |

well, it is a kind of "unfinished" film.
as long as he doesn't get ideas in his head that the genius of it had much to do with him. if he says "i'm going to make a new version of do androids dream of electric sheep?", this time totally faithfully - then that's ok. if this is just "i made blade runner cos im so great here's version 2 cos i have no new ideas and cant admit PKD was the source of it all" then no thanks. |

Prometheus sounds interesting.
Maybe this will be based on KW Jeter's sequel(s)?

there's LOTS in androids that was not part of the film
having said that, i don't know why it would need to be, since it's already there in the book. ubiks getting done soon bbc are doing a 6 part man in the high castle and there was a biopic with paul giamatti that seems to have disappeared will anyone ever be cool enough to do 3 stigmata? |

The film has almost nothing to do with the book -for one thing, its a post nuclear wasteland in the book, not the hyperfuture shown...as I recall, Decker needs to work to buy android animal pets, its the big thing, everyone's social status depends on the quality of your robot pet, because all the real animals are dead due to nuclear war.

everything I've read says that the new movie will also only be loosely based on the book. it's actually going to be loosely based on the movie that was loosely based on the book since I don't believe Mr Dick ever wrote a sequel\prequel.
whatsmore, fuck Han Solo. I want a Admiral Adama to come back. origami penis parade etc. etc. |

he didn't and the piece of crap KW Jeter shit out should be banned from the planet, I couldn't believe he could write something so poorly. John Shirley's branded work (like Constantine or Doom) is at least good writing and story. |

I liked Constantine better than The Hellblazer comic series.
now...Doom.... yikes. the camera shots that made it look like the first-person shooter were fucking stupid. I turned that bitch off and sent it back to Netflix immediately. |

Agreed. I just recently read for the first time Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, and was taken aback at how much the book differed from the movie. I have to admit, I prefer the movie to the book. |

I can't speak to the movie, but Shirley's novel was ok as a fun read... There are so many great sci fi books that should be turned into movies, Niven's Ringworld or Bester's The Stars My Destination, or some of the early Vinge like the Peace Wars...or any Simak! |

Funnily enough, I recently read that for the first time as well. It's a good read. |
