For a serious vinyl fan, I'd say a Technics SL1200, it is the classic- over a good system you can get super HI-FI quality, we used them at the radio station. Right now I have a crappy record player with built in speakers. But that is what I am getting when I upgrade.

i would say an sl1200 technics, they are good turntables but it is also about the quality of your stylus as well

check out lpgear.com
look up their list of recommendations and move up on the food chain-- you'll find something priced just right. their improved setups are great btw. |

My turntable is a Gem-Sound DLJ-1150 Belt Drive Ouick Start. & the needle is surprisingly high quality. I've had it 5 years now, & I haven't changed the needle since I got it.

Don't they have laser record players now? For like $15,000, if you can swing that. I'm sure you can.

If heard of the laser vinyl players, but it just seems redundent to play a record that way. & plus, exceedingly expensive.

Lailai:
That has to be one of the coolest turntables I've ever seen. Props!

Laila, I got myself that very same record player with my Xmas money (old junkstore one broke)! I like it, but really wish it had a tone control and more volume. Some albums sound really muddy and some sound really bright. It is sort of a matter of figuring out which records sound the best on it and mainly playing them. I really just wish it had a line out and a phono out so I could hook it up to a higher quality system.

these are solid and road worthy decks i wouldn't trust my vinyl on anything less, these aren't the industry standard turntables because they are shit... of course there are better turntables on the market but then you start getting into the more hi end domestic aesthetically pleasing ones |
