One of my favorite TV shows is No Reservations with Tony Bourdain.
He wrote the tell-all book Kitchen Confirdential and didn't hold anything back. Here are a few questions from his recent AV Club interview talking about punk rock, feeding Johnny Thunders and liking bands like the Contortions. Quote:

I have to say that that was an unusual show. What I like about Bourdain is that he's really into the culture of whomever he is visiting. He treats everyone with the utmost respect and really tries to have fun like a local. His show is inspirational. He travels the way I try to. He goes and meets up with friends and acquaintances and has them bring him to their favorite haunts. There's this prick on the Travel Channel whose show is often paired with Bourdain's. His name is Andrew Zimmern and his show is called Bizzare Foods. Just from the name you can tell that his show is all about the weird factor. If anyone sees this fat fuck coming into their restaurant they should rub their ass before serving his food. This guy deserves a case of E Coli for the way he tries to make people around the world look like a sideshow.

Andrew Zimmern lives here. I see him around town sometimes.
The Rock Star Chef is a phenomenon that I don't think I'm ever gonna get. |

i typed that originally but thought the cobra one was way more...not gross but...yeah, gross and unsettling at the same time, i guess. this morning (the travel and living channel, which broadcasts no reservations here, pretty much rerun different episodes every odd hour), they showed when he was in portugal, and he went to a pig slaughterhouse, man!! when they kill the pig. then, they show the pig carcass hung by the hook and this accordion player is there playing right besides it and anthony goes in the voice over "maybe that's something i could bring to my kitchen: a tamborine, maybe a few ukeleles..." |
