I need to find a free cd burning program that will let me select my external cd drive to burn cds with (because the one that's built into my computer is fucked). I was using nero but the free trail expired.
Any suggestions. thank you in advanced |

you need to make the external one the master, on the internal there are some jumpers to choose between master and slave

I used to use iTunes to burn to an external drive until I got a Mac Mini with an internal one. Granted they've upgraded a bazillion times and may have taken the ability to burn to an external drive off, but I doubt it, since they just want the thing to be ubiquitous. Try downloading the Windows version (assuming you use a PC) from Apple's site.
Of course Terminal Pharmacy's advice is the best, because whatever program you use is going to look for the logical default. |

I guess the interface is USB (or perhaps Firewire but it's rarer) as it's an external drive, so there's no master/slave setting. |
