i really enjoy them, and i really don't like "humor" in my songs, but their songs are just really good.

I too am a fan, and have found myself rockin to their shit after years of listening on the basis of their hooks and riffs and good songs and not just their humor

Their humor (at its best) reminds me of Dead Kennedys' humor, in that it's dripping with irony and makes a point. Big Lizard's about US involvment in Central America, Tiny Town's about zenophobia, etc. Compare with the utterly humorless U2 records (or, more to the point, Minor Threat records) at the time to appriciate the difference.
Also, the best tracks feature some pretty sophisticated chord changes. Someone recently posted to ask for some help figuring a tune out. Not surprising. |
