She's probably too humble to start a new thread just to promote her own Website, so I'll do it for her. Here's the link:
http://www.trapperjennmd.org This is some highly entertaining and funny writing! |

i AM modest, haha. patrick told me i should start a thread, but i figured
a signature link would be sufficient. thank you everyone who checked it out. thank you magic wheel for giving me the most pleasant shock i've had ever browsing this forum! (i apparently need to pass more biscuits around the table before i can rep you again) at least until sonic youth finally announce they're doing a show in my backyard. no difference in the content of the two links posted, by the way.

Do you mean LITERALLY in your backyard???
It's a fun site, I like it. I look forward to reading your journal entries for every single SY show that you've been to. |

yes, right there in my backyard. mind you, i haven't contacted anyone
from the band...but i'm sure we can work something out. i hope they would be ok with getting paid in individual pieces of baked chicken and a bowl of potato salad. the atp '02 review on there was the first SY show review i wrote. i'm going in order, aiming for getting at least 2 reviews up a week.

a bigger shock then when Chris Grier messaged you?
bigger then when Mike Watt posted in your 'too hot for echo cam' thread? even bigger then when Jim O'Rourke pmed you to ask about lyrical anaysis of his songs? |

Those songs they made her sing in the 80s tv show were pretty crummy though.

you mean, "i'm in shape, i'm in shape, i'm in
shape!" from flashbeagle? it can't compare to "pig pen hoedown", for sure.

Pretty much all of Flashbeagle was pretty shameful. Except Snoopy's dance at the start.

i have an old 2-in-1 VHS with Flashbeagle and
She's a Good Skate, the contrast of which is just jarring. one is a cheesy 80s guilty pleasure, the other is subtle and amazing, in my opinion peppermint patty's animated apex.

They've reissued those old shows on DVDs. I have a boxset with a bunch of them on, including 'Flashbeagle'. The boxset must be like.. $30.

thanks!
linus nudged him out of the top 3 due to 1: linus has a far more "reaching" philosophy, and often has to be the voice of perspective for ol' CB (such as when he cajoles him into facing the world again after blowing the spelling bee in "a boy named charlie brown"; numerous strip examples) and 2. my feeling that in "a charlie brown christmas" and "it's the great pumpkin", he just stole chuck's shine. also, that great "maybe you have pantophobia?" exchange in the christmas special between charlie brown and lucy came from a strip that actually featured lucy and linus. 3. the fact that linus believed in a fucking pumpkin that delivered presents. ultimately, better than charlie brown believing he could get that red-haired girl.

I found fun and substantive writing too.
(I also read the entries)... I wore out all those Peanuts paperbacks growing up and of course, I've seen all the TV specials many times. Reading about your comparisons of Linus to Lisa Simpson made me think of the time the board had the Simpsons character survivor thread and all these jerkwads were voting off Lisa first. The nerve of some people! Enjoyed your list very much except for Spike and Olaf both edging out Woodstock. That's a puzzler. |

i am not entirely sure, she finds more personality i them over woodstock
someday when i can draw better i plan to make a thing called "Snoopy Youth", with Snoopy and his brothers and sister as SY the plan has always been Snoopy - Thurston Belle - Kim Spike - Lee (i mean who else could) Andy - Steve when Jim was in the band he was supposed to be Olaf, now that Mark is playing with them, maybe Marbles, nobody sticks out as an Olaf now and speaking of that list, can you upload my top picks Jenn? I forgot most of the list cept for the top 3 1. Peppermint Patty 2. Snoopy 3. ole Chuck |

4. marcie
5. sally 6. linus 7. woodstock 8. lucy 9. rerun 10. violet 11. spike 12. franklin 13. patty 14. olaf 15. pigpen 16. frieda 17. schroeder 18. shermy olaf and spike can hold strips on their own...woodstock is limited (to me). the fact you can't understand his words/thoughts is unique, and works great bounced against the inexplicably-comprehending snoopy, but on his own? eh. not enough to sustain my interest.
