Pushing through the market square, so many mothers sighing News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in News guy wept and told us, earth was really dying Cried so much his face was wet, then I knew he was not lying I heard telephones, opera house, favourite melodies I saw boys, toys electric irons and t.v.s My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare I had to cram so many things to store everything in there And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people I never thought I'd need so many people A girl my age went off her head, hit some tiny children If the black hadn't a-pulled her off, I think she would have killed them A soldier with a broken arm, fixed his stare to the wheels of a cadillac A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest, and a queer threw up at the sight of that I think I saw you in an ice-cream parlor, drinking milk shakes cold and long Smiling and waving and looking so fine, don't think You knew you were in this song And it was cold and it rained so I felt like an actor And I thought of ma and I wanted to get back there Yr face, yr race, the way that you talk I kiss you, yr beautiful, I want you to walk We've got five years, stuck on my eyes Five years, what a surprise We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, thats all we've got We've got five years, what a surprise Five years, stuck on my eyes We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, thats all we've got We've got five years, stuck on my eyes Five years, what a surprise We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, thats all we've got We've got five years, what a surprise We've got five years, stuck on my eyes We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot Five years, thats all we've got Five years Five years Five years Five years learn to Popul Vu. |

I thought that was David Bowie?
Anyway, I realize I'm posting in another dead thread (c'mon guys, I've got work and a life during the daytime and usually don't get here until after midnight, then don't post for weeks at a time), but here's my $0.02: In high school I played video games, now I play guitar. I am much happier now.

Lol, case closed?
I'd personally advise against acoustic though. I tried for like 6 months, got an electric and my world was all the better for it.

yes, it's David Bowie. the items in bold relate to the Popul Vu (not the freakin' band Popul Vu....the book). threads not dead yet....it's getting better. and yeah Jt, I would rather have an electric, but my friend convinced me that it would be easier to learn how to actually play on accoustic. also means not having to buy an amp.... *shrug* obviously I'm having trouble making this decision myself. |

Electrics are easier on the marshmallowy fingertips of newbies, but acoustics can train you hard because they make your mistakes so obvious.

Drone makes a good point. I learned on acoustic and I found it much better to hear every mistake I made.

h a ha ha ha ha. but really. the guitar is nice. im just thinking that for easily achieved thrills something else is in order. something like a cheap distortion pedal and power chords. |

THREAD RECAP: games are for geeks, geetars are hot, lux pwns Yoshi's island, heroin is bad for you, rad drum kits are not, five years 'til quetzal's return, electric marshmallows and stay away from captain howdy or he'll give you bad hair.
sounds like my kind of party. |

wait-- worshipping time-wasters from the 80's is somehow the epitome of the good life, while the technologically updated versions deserve the death penalty? i sure hope you're joking! |

now I feel like a dirty fucking hippie for even suggesting the whole peter paul and mary shit. I've been called out for pussing on the electric on this person's very first post. thank you, kind firey bird, for preventing me from potentially loathing myself. seriously though, now I'm more undecided now than I was before I posted this. by the time I'm done buying all the shit y'all recommended, I'll be in the poorhouse for sure. |
