As a Dinosaur Jr lover, I'm getting tired of all the repeats myself. Should I take it on to make an official "one and only" thread?

It would be quite good if, in the Non-Sonic Sounds section, all multiple threads about a single band could be consolidated into one core thread about that band. It won't happen, but that's not going to stop me from dreaming.
Go on, give it a try. If it works, I'll buy you a cream bun. |

I don't understand. when I last saw Dino play the crowd was like any crowd for any show I go to (excet modest mouse which was full of 13 year olds)
it was all people ages 26-40 and a good number of younger people. I was so heartened to see younger people getting into dinosaur anfd loving it and enjoying a TRUE fucking rock n roll show. It made me feel so good. I love when kids get into great abnds, like sonic youth, or mudhoney or dinosaur or big black or the buttholes. It means that their music has stood the test of time. DINOSAUR!!!!!!!!!!!!

agree about kids digging the old stuff like that...
i'm a fan of Dinosaur's early work up 'til Green Mind, then J. got crazy w/ the production adding dozens of overdubbed guitar solo theatrics on those subsequent albums, which to me makes them an unlistenable muddy mess of guitar wankery... but he's still one hell of guitarist. Though i only occassionally go back and listen to thearly stuff because it speaks of a certain period of my life, some of that music doesn't hold well over time... btw, he does a number of his trademark el. guitar solos on Thurston's new album "Trees Outside the Academy" that actually sound nice and work well. |

I've heard all the albums, seen them live, and seen J. Mascic live. They were good for five minutes.
