Ooooh! i've got some gilberto gil, baden powell, and caetano veloso 45s and 7"'s that i'm pretty proud of ever being able to find. i only stop buying records when i go broke (like i am right now). i don't even like downloading anymore, because it takes the pleasure out of physically getting the album.

i don't get to take advantage of my housemate's discount, as the nature of the shop is that a significant proportion of the clientele are friends with the owner/employees and limited money to be made in that field, so there's no buying of records for friends on the cheap. |

downloading as compared to purchasing the vinyl or CD is like comparing masturbating at the doctor's office with a not-sexy playboy mag from 1992 as opposed to a balls-deep volcano burst way in my girl's abdomen if you know what I'm saying.

You can't hold downloading in your hands. You can't smell it. Ever sniff an LP?

Mark told me that the record store basement thing is actually a ruse and, in fact, they're starting a porn dungeon. Now, I'm not one to start rumours, but I assure you I did hear this direct from the horse's mouth.

that is the funniest thing i have read on this board in ages there is nothing like the smell of a good record store with all the vinyl and the crusty floorboards and holding that 12" gatefold in your hands why the records spin hypnotically on the truntable platter. |

I just bought one Screaming Trees 'Dollar Bill' orange vinyl a couple of weeks ago, I've set myself the task of completing 6 college assignments before buying my next. I think I'm going to get 'Sonic Nurse', haven't heard it yet, but people tell it's really good.
