Just woke up and checking my footage from a, what must have been the strangest, Kraak fest to date.
line-up: LUGUBRUM (B) - MAJOR STARS (US) - WARMER MILKS (US) - DINOSAURS WITH HORNS (US) - WITCHCRAFT (SE) - RACCOO-OO-OON (US) - PHIL MINTON (UK) - DANIEL HIGGS (US) - BOHMAN BROTHERS (UK) - DENNIS KROKODIL AND FRIEND (B) - THOMAS ANKERSMIT + GIUSEPPE IELASI (NL/IT) - LITTLE HOWLIN’ WOLF (US) - BEAR BONES, LAY LOW (B/VE) - JOZEF VAN WISSEM (NL) Unoficially added: ORTHODOX (E) - ERGO PHIZMIZ (UK) Cancelled: WHITCHCRAFT (SE) Warmer Milks were very awsome!!! Hadn't heard anything from them yet. They started this very silent acoustic guitar drift with some electronic screeching and after a couple of minutes into some amazing songcraft. One of my favourites. Bear Bones, Lay Low is this solo drone project by Venezualian 19 year old kid Ernesto Gonzalez residing here in Brussels. An amazing show with the crowd demanding an encore which let him into Dave from Kraak asking to wind it up as schedules were already immensely delayed. Another stunning performance was given us by Daniel Higgs. Fuckin' medieval chants and an amazing performance with a Jew Harp. Our very own Dennis Krokodil And Friend opened the festival in a quite satisfying manner. Some nice vocal use and electronics from a true upcoming new Belgian talent. Little Howlin' Wolf is a very funny Death Blues rendition, a real stomper from a guy that can only be described as a trucker playing two saxophones. Phil Minton performed a steady voice improvisation with some really noisy attacks at times. I'll have footage up soon I hope at Ecstatic Peace so you can check it for yourself. See if I'm right about the above. And also check for yourself what you thought of the other acts, I was somewhat dissapointed. Also a bit dissapointed by Major Stars. Weird weird festival ( even for me ) |

My band opened for Warmer Milks and Six Organs of Admittance a couple of years ago, always remembered that Warmer Milks set, as it was quite good sounding like a mix between Growing and Sunn O))) and much more... a few months ago i got their cd on troubleman unlimited and thats quite interesting.
that is a bizarre lineup, but very interesting. |

Lugubrum is one of my favorite black metal bands. They really stand out from the rest in many ways; truly an interesting group that is very aware of the trappings of their chosen genre. I wonder how they are live; any reports would be appreciated.
