As a child I was barely even aware of Dr. Seuss. Obviously he's much more popular in America.
It's only now that I've started reading his books to my daughter that I realise just how clever and often laugh-out-loud funny they are. Scrambled Eggs Super! is our current favourite. Quote:

I bought my cousin some of the books for her 2nd birthday. I don't think she's read them. I think her parents have lost them by now anyway, the bastards.
I am a great influence on kids. Here's me working out some killer awesome remote-controlled death tanks for my cousin. Small pieces, not suitable for toddlers! |

I remember the fist book I read without assistance was Elephant has the Hiccups.
Dr. Suess wasn't a big part of my childhood reading sessions. Although I have read a couple of his books.
