Yeah, "Fairytale of New York" is a classic that actually manages to feel Christmasy and not suck.
Green River's take on "Away in a Manger" is a forgotten classic. Mark Arm's ridiculous spoken part at the end with, "Jesus is coming and he's going to get in!" is really hilarious. The Treacherous Three's "Xmas Rap" from the Sugarhill days is the very best seasonal song hands down though. It doesn't get anymore dope. |

There's a fair bit of decent Christmas stuff. My preferences would be:
Let it Snow - Dean Martin I Believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake Happy Christmas/War Is Over - John Lennon and Yoko Ono Hark the Herald Angels - The Fall Jingle Bell Rock - The Fall Anything by Perry Como (he did a whole LP of Christmas stuff) Brass bands and the like always have a good Christmas feel to them, and I especially like The Salvation Army International Staff Band (again, I have a Christmas LP by them) Henry Purcell's Behold, I bring you glad tidings. Purcell is the number one religious composer in my book. And if I can throw up a slightly silly nomination, I'd add that there's an Aphex Twin track called Goon Gumpos which has an very crisp, wintery feel to it. It always makes me think of Christmas, for some reason.
