Just a few off the top of my head... some may sound absurd, but keep an open mind. I'm an old fart and have been listening to music for a long time...
Broken Social Scene-"Anthems for a 17 year old Girl" Yo La Tengo- "Green Arrow" The Cure- "Plainsong" Tom Petty (& the Heartbreakers? Not sure)- "Learning to Fly" Kim Carnes- "Bette Davis Eyes" Pavement- "Texas Never Whispers" The Beatles- "Blackbird" Pearl Jam- "Nothingman" (I don't even LIKE this fucking song, but the chord arrangement gets me every time) DCFC- "Movie Script Ending" (Another one I don't even like, but it's about a town I know very well, and it paints a pretty damn good picture of the experience of being a scenester in the '90s) And more and more and more... some I love, some I hate, some I will never listen to again. |

who gives a shit? Beautiful song. One of my favorite songs of all time. I always think of making a mix of covers and songs that sampled it... Miles Davis, Nas, 2Pac, etc.

it makes me feel really peaceful. It has a certain soothing quality to it. Like a lullaby.

Oh man, heard "Let Us Sleep Now", the finale to Britten's War Requiem, in Music History class yesterday. I got the vapors.

SY song: Tunic. It's easily my favourite of theirs.
General song: Haushinka, by Green Day. Not a particularly sad song in itself, but earlier this year a girl who I had a lot of feelings for (both romantic and platonic) moved away, and the lyrics keep reminding me of her. Shame, the song's awesome. https://youtu.be/4ATkdYngGQc

Whigfield - Saturday Night
Alice Deejay - Better off Alone Queen - Radio gaga. 'Radio! Someone still loves youuu' gets me by the proverbial tear-ducts every single time. Nickleback - discography. Especially the alcohol song - these guys have been there, down to the bottom of the bottle where I heard they bumped into Trent. Any modern rap - the depressive immaturity gets me every time. Actually welling up now just thinking about grammatical error. The 10 o'clock news jingle - obvious tings. Anything with a 4:4 beat. |
