Which post Sleater-Kinney group is better?
The Corin Tucker Band has that mellower, adult sound, a bit like if the earlier solo Corin Tucker music grew up, and I really dig it. There is still a bit of edge in it though, enough to satisfy my more angstful side.. 1000 Years Handed Love Riley Wild Flag simply kicks ass! I saw them live on their first tour a year before any album came out and it blew me away. It was everything I had been missing since 2006 and more! I liked the addition of more vocal harmonies and also the keys, and I liked that it had the spunk and fun energy of early-2000s S-K shows. Kick ass Wild Flag set from SxSW set list: includes Electric Band Short Version Black Tiles Future Crimes Glass Tambourine Romance Which do y'all prefer or think produced better music since the S-K split? PS.. I wish Carrie would scream like she used to do in Excuse 17 at least on just one damned song, seriously!

interesting. I agree to an extent, though I think Wild Flag has the superior stage show, Corin Tucker Band definitely had a better produced record. Corin Tucker Band seemed to translate more readily in the studio, Wild Flag lost a lot of their energy and dynamics on the record version, bad production fault I say.

I dont get the Wild Flag excitement at all. They arent BAD by any means, theyre just not much better than GOOD.

I agree with you completely, hence why I even posed the question. However, I do understand a bit of the Wild Flag attention, folks appreciate it the way people appreciated Rather Ripped or the Eternal. Yeah, they weren't epic records, but they were decent and its nice just go get decent new music from good musicians considering how much crap is out there. plus, this band really should have started in 1999 with the Spells, and so its also cool to see it finally come to fruition. In regards to Sleater-Kinney, there are a dozen related side-projects some good, some bad, but isn't that kind of the nice part about good indy bands? Variety? Side-projects? Plus it was a long hiatus, which thankfully here in Los Angeles War Paint stepped up and filled in the void.
