This is sort of like an endless march. The things we thought were insane and ahead of their time culturally will be boring and blase years later. It seems to happen faster nowadays. But still, they aren't playing "Death Trip" or "LA Blues" on commercials. I love the stooges, but culture moves forward. And doesn't everyone from Lady Gaga to Madonna at least pretend to like the stooges? Sonic Youth is next, not that I'm saying they'll be in jean ads, but that everyone in their mother in the indie crowd pretends to like sonic youth even when they've probably listened to half of Daydream Nation at best. Is it pathetic? Yeah. Is it surprising? No.
