we really are onto something. if paris hilton gets paid to show up at a club for a few hours, then I should get paid to listen to a band's album. we are both doing the same thing=promoting/being seen. I'd even walk around downtown around lunch-time with the band's tee-shirt on for a small extra fee.

i dunno. ive been living in the minneapolis area for a while.. and the only bands that i've seen worth remembering for the past school year was xiu xiu on haydens birthday and the alarmists. i've been checking city pages for a pretty long time now and theres not a lot of good music coming through the cities. as far as i can tell. bishop allen and mates of state are on their way and theyre ok, but i dont know if i really want to waste money on them. which also brings me to another point. after seeing the alarmists live i was really impressed. i got into the songs and i thought they were so great. after that show my friend downloaded some of the songs that we liked off of limewire and after hearing them live, theyre recorded stuff is simply a disappointment. |

downloading music hurts the labels more than it hurts the artists. i thought everyone knew that.

The reality is that if the studies are correct that P2P users buy more music than the average consumer, then it doesn't actually hurt anybody. |

Neither of us can prove that either way. However, to go back to the radio analogy, most of what we hear on the radio we don't buy either. Nonetheless, the radio has proven to be much more of a promotional tool for music sales than an alternative to buying music. Mind the labels didn't think it would be, and they were horribly frightened of those innocuous cassette tapes as well. And VCRs were supposed to hurt movie sales too, which is particularly amusing when you see the amount of movies people buy and rent these days. |

I used to think that downloading music was bad. But some albums are too hard or expensive to come by.
