I picked up the new Tool album yesterday because it was on sale for $9.99. Having heard the album already, I figured what the hell...fair price.
YOU HAVE TO SEE THE INSIDE ART! Worth the price even without the CD inside. I've never seen anything like this in a contemporary release.

I got an advance copy so I've been looking at it for weeks, truly amazing stuff. Reminds me of Viewmaster. You should go back to where ever you bought it and see if they have these clear pastic Tool bags because supposedly the key to deciphering the artwork in the CD packaging is on this bag. I've heard that you have to look at the bag with the same viewer but I'm not sure.

Yeah, but this a whole other level. If album packaging was more often like this and you could buy it the first week for 10 bucks, I'd have a huge CD collection and a lot more hard drive space. And I remember when Pulse by Pink Floyd came out I thought that blinking red light was cool...geez

i don't agree, the production on the album is completely different to lateralus. maynards vocals are more dry and less effected than on previous releases. there are less songs playing in alternate time signatures than aenima or lateralus. the album is a far more personal one lyrically than they have done before, with 20minutes of it being a duology written for maynards mother called wings for marie / 10000 days (wings pt2). adam's guitar sound is more like aenima as is danny's drums sound while justin's bass sound is lateralus based. aswell as being a more personal album it is also a more polital album with vicarious and right in two being political in nature. there is an interview at this link which is quite good http://www.triplej.net.au/topshelf/default.htm |

I heard it was more like Aenima than Lateralus.....a little more heavy. I've only heard Vicarious.

It's more like Lateralus musically, but it's a very angry album for the most part. Seems Maynard is pissed at the "idiot-king"...hahaha. GW for those that haven't listened to the interview.

I bought one from wallmart today. Do you think wallmart will have edited it? They are big on editing things. What do you think.

i really can't decide if it sounds more like lateralus or aenima. i kinda feel like it sounds as though they recorded it in between the two.

i would say listen to it for what it is, a really fucking good album, as usual like tool albums are it takes lots of listens to start breaking the surface
