Tracklist: 1. Aisle 13 2. Hindsight 3. Nowhere Lullaby 4. Good Ol' Boredom 5. Life's A Dream 6. Oh Yeah 7. Pat 8. Done 9. Planting Seeds 10. Things Fall Apart 11. Tomorrow Getting released on October 6th. They've played seven out of those eleven songs live, and all of them are pretty great, but I'm a little upset that my favorite live song they did a couple times, "Open", isn't on here. Hopefully it's a b-side or something.... The record should be great, better than You In Reverse at least. Cover art is extremely cool. ~Jeremy~

YIR isn't bad, to me it's just clearly the weakest BTS record, and they spent a lot of time on it too. It has some great songs, but also feels like its missing something... They spent too much time on guitar jamming rather than creating good songs underneath.
Still a fairly solid record though, but I'm a gigantic BTS fan so I love just about everything they've done. ~Jeremy~

Oh, cool, I love Built to Spill but only heard There's Nothing Wrong With Love, Keep It Like a Secret and Perfect From Now On... Is the recent stuff that great too ?

I thought You in Reverse was a really good album. I haven't listened to it in a while though. I may have to give it a spin later today.

Awesome cover. I actually like You in Reverse quite a bit, so I hope this one is as good, if not better.

I love BTS. Can't wait for the new record. Seen them live for the first time last year. Doug was rocking a scruffy beard!

I will see them co-headline in Houston with Dinosaur Jr and Lou Barlow will do a solo set beforehand!

i dont know where youre coming from saying uoy (see what i did there) was their weakest record. That album is amazing the long opener going against your mind, the gorgeous single conventional wisdom and the bad ass wastin time and the dreamy just a habit. If anything Ancient melodies is their weakest even doug thinks so.
Anyway im real excited about the new album ive heard a few of them live but i wanted to be surprised by the new lp so i havent listened to many of them. Glad to see tomorrow and lifes a dream finally get on a real record. Cant wait to see them live again, they put on one of the best concerts everyone here should go.

So now that it's out, what do think? I think it's a lot better and more balanced than YIR was and probably a better overall record than AMotF. Some of the songs on the record are really wonderful.
By the way, BTS play on Letterman on the 15th. This surprisingly is their first late night talk show appearance since they appeared on Conan way back in 1999. ~Jeremy~

There's a few pretty good songs on it, but for the most part, I feel it's Built to Spill going through the motions. You In Reverse is so much better.
Love the cover art, though. I didn't think anything would beat Farm for me in that department this year. |

Funny coincidence, for me it was the opposite; You In Reverse was them going through the motions, though that record does have some good stuff on it.
I agree the cover is fantastic, even better than Farm. ~Jeremy~

I still never forgave Scott Plouf for leaving the Spinanes. BTS is cool though, I'm sure I'll listen to this...eventually.

Is it more like YIR or TNWWL? Or neigher? I liked the post-rocky feel that TNWWL had.

Neither really.... I mean TNWWL was four albums ago, even Perfect From Now On didn't sound like it really. So this one sounds "similar" to YIR but not a follow up to it in style, if that helps answer your question. If anything to me personally, sounds like a 2009 version of KiLaS. ~Jeremy~

Decided to give this another listen after finding some of these songs stuck in my head the other day. It's definitely growing on me. A lot more melodic, less-jammy and more mellow than YIR, though I don't think it'll ever be as good as that album for me. Still, it's a very nice album. I'm loving "Life's a Dream" and "Tomorrow" in particular.
