Djokovic, that is.
Coming in to the inaugural Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, number ten-ranked Novak Djokovic from Serbia won the Men's title today defeating Guillermo Canas in straight sets. As a result, Djokovic moves up to number seven in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) rankings. Roger Federer suffered a stunning 7-6 2-6 7-6 defeat by Guillermo Canas earlier in the fourth round; it was the world number one's second loss to the unranked Argentine in successive tournaments. Canas, who snapped Federer's 41-match winning streak at Indian Wells two weeks ago, valiantly battled the Swiss defending champion for two hours 38 minutes in a riveting Stadium court duel that ended when the Argentine sealed victory with a service winner. Both Nadal and Roddick bowed out of the tournament complaining of foot injuries. It was those Miami nights. hehee |
