Scary Monsters by David Bowie sounds like a WIRE song. I can hear a lot of 154 and Chairs Missin in that whole song. The pre-chorus is very Map Referency.

No doubt new wave was having a strong influence on Bowie at that time period. In my mind thats his last listenable album.
I'm sure his Sat Night Live appearance from that time is on the web, one of his back up singers was Klaus Nomi, a wild new wave performer of the time. And sadly an early victim of AIDS. |
