So basically something in my guitar is fucked up in the wiring, so I disasembled everything for the fuck of it. But I was wondering if it's possible to have a functioning electric guitar with a single pick-up(humbucker) and no knobs or switches.

you could turn the knobs at a determined level and hide them under the plate somehow. heh! but wouldn't it be, like, annoying as fuck not to be able to control the volume?

You can bypass the switches and controls, but you'd have to know exactly what you're doing wiring-wise. Here's an example I've found for you to peurse over:

no reason why you have to have a switch or volume control. Go for it.

switch= no volume control=a powerful tool. I say keep it. it is the mastercontrol of feedback. to be honest though, the more active switchs you have to adjust, the more parameters you have to play with in a soundscape. knobs =creative

well if the knobs are messing with your action, remove them, but if not, keep them. they are useful like suchfriendsaredangerous said.

particularly if you are using multiple effects, they challenge yr feedback and you need extra control at times to keep the feeling.

I shall take this all into consideration.
I'm going to be visiting my grandfather and he's good with such things so I'll see what he knows. |

So I've been playing the above mentioned way above(no knobs/switches) and the sound isn't bad. It's got volume with a bit more "twang" to it. I'm also only using one pick-up, the brigde pick-up, so I can tell a little sound quality is lost but over all I like it. I'm working on some folkish/blues songs so when I get those finished and online I'll link them from here.

The wiring in my jag is getting more fucked up, cutting out and whatnot. Unfortunately I don't know the electronics enough to know what the hell to do. Maybe I'll just take a screwdriver to it and take photos?

yeah this is easily do-able, I'm building my own guitar right now but doing the inverse to you, loads of knobs and switches.
besides you can always control volume with a pedal, which is the best way to do it anyway. Instead of a tone control just put a resistor in at which value you want and you're sorted. |

It's totally possible. I think SY wires a lot of guitars that way. You just wire the pickup right up to the jack. |
