in 2008 Dwayne Michael Carter AKA Lil Wayne AKA Weezy F. Baby, after a series of criticially acclaimed mixtapes, dropped a sick album called "Tha Carter 3", where he claimed to be the best rapper alive. many people actually believed him.. including the president of the U.S. Barrack Obama himself. "You are probably not that good a rapper. Maybe you are the next Lil Wayne, but probably not, in which case you need to stay in school."
in 2009 dude went to jail. he has never returned since then. as you can see in the pics, he was a hard guy. we miss you man. one day, some guy called Tunechi tried to pick up a guitar and released a shitty album. nobody gave a fuck. then this year he tried to go back to the traditional style of punchline rap with an album called Tha Carter 4, that actually has nothing to do with that Wayne we knew before.. and yet again failed miserably. ^WHO THE FUCK IS THIS "GUY"? so my question is, do you think that in 2012 we will finally get the old Wayne we love back? or is he already gone for eternity? |

^that's laughable. so are we gonna pretend that he doesn't have two classic mixtapes (Dedication 2 & Da Drought 3) and a classic album (Carter 2)? that whole era from '04-'07.. pretty much everything that was leading up to C3, including the Empire leaks were pretty damn great.

yeah, that album was like the worst shit anyone has ever heard at the time.. and the funny thing is that his later stuff actually made it sound mediocre.

he made his serious breakthrough around the time Em was on drugs and couldn't even speak, while Jay suppposedly "retired" then came back with a shitty album (Kingdom Come). it took him a while to fully develop until he reached his peak commercially with C3 which was basically a compilation of radio hits & club bangers.

nowadays the only shit you'd hear from him is "when it waynes it pours", "met a female dragon, had a fire conversation", "skeet skeet skeet water gun", etc. i mean, are you serious Wayne? if only '07 Wayne knew what he'd become, he'd puke. |

at least one dude gave an F about the shitty rock album
anyway. I don't know that he'll ever sound like he did in 2007/2008 again. That was a different time. He was crazy hungry y'know? He had a lot to prove. I think Carter IV sounds like he's TRYING to go back a bit, but it's different now. He's a big star. Yr little sister knows him. Maybe yr mom does. He also birthed Drake and Nikki. It's just a different climate and he's a different dude. I still like him for what he is. I dn't really expect him to "go back " becuz moving backwards doesn't really make sense. I know everyone hated REBIRTH but I didn't because it was something DIFFERENT. I'd rather see an artist continually influx .... meaning, if an artist is always trying new things, some will be great and some shit, but it's all an interesting experiment to me. An artist that just plays it safe MIGHT always be great, but that's less interesting to me (see: Drake).

Noiseredux, i like your posts cuz you always seem to have such different views on everything than the norm. hah. for me Weezy's last few albums were trash, but i can totally see what you mean when you say that he's got nothing left to prove anymore, so he's just fucking around.. i really wish someone big will finally make a diss record on him, just call him out already.. everyone knows Wayne fell off, but they're all such pussies for not daring to mention it publicly. |

thx dude. I don't expect anyone to agree w me, but it's cool that you respect my view. I think for anyone to challenge Wayne (which would be a GOOD thing btw) it would need to be someone huge. Y'know? someone at the top of their game, and who Weezy would respect enough to feel the need to come back at them. Competition is good btw. The Jay-Z vs Nas beef is probably one of the most interesting song cycles of hip hop in the last decade.

I'm a much bigger Jay-Z fan too, but the beef brought out the best in Nas. "Ether" was absolutely amazing. And really, so was STILLMATIC in general. There's a really good kevin nottingham mixtape that chronicles the entire beef. YOu should hunt it down. It's totally headspinning to hear all those tracks back to back and you realize this was more than anything just two mc's pushing each other to just be the best.

btw, the dopest beef going on atm is between Rick Ross & Young Jeezy.
both make the best records atm, in fact Ross is on par with Ye & Jay as far as artistry goes in my book.. dude easily gets the most improved of the last 3 yrs card.. while Jeezy just dropped TM103 which i consider to be the best rap album of the year, hands down. the last track "This One's for You" is actually meant to be for Rozay. |

yeah Ross has really come around man. He does impress me. I have heard TM103 yet,but Jeezy is definitely a very talented dude. But I don't know. A beef between the two of them. I don't know if I'd even care.
Maybe Ross should start a beef w Weezy though.

Ross kinda started as a Jeezy ripoff, Jeezy himself was even featured on his first two albums lol.
but now he has his own thing going.. he's been killing every feature, those verses on Kanye's and Drake's albums were INSANE. i think 2012 is going to be his year.. i expect his next album to be his Blueprint. |
