Notice I didn't say guilty. I don't believe in guilt when it comes to appreciating things like music, art, and literature. But you know, what do you think it's weird that you've never listened much to or added to your collection? For me, it's the Smiths. I finally bought my first Smiths record last year, Strangeways, and while I thought it was okay, it didn't exactly light my fire. Similarly, I've listened to parts of the debut and Queen is Dead and just kind of went, meh. But I keep hearing how great those albums are, and I look at my collection and wonder why I don't have them.
How about you?

*gasp*
What is worse, then? No Radiohead, or no Smiths? A toss-up?

everyone has told me that radiohead would be right up my alley for years and years and years but I hate when people for whom radiohead is the weirdest band they listen to tell me what they think I will like.
stupid I know.

Radiohead is rather "normal" compared to a lot of my favorites, but I still think they're pretty good.

Nothing comes right to mind. I've thought about this before though, so I know there are several bands.

I think it's good that we don't automatically "get" the "essential" bands just because we think we should. Nothing wrong with not liking the Stones or Beatles or Radiohead or anybody if you don't really feel them.

Agreed, everyone rates them as being the greatest fucking thing ever, I find them totally boring. In a way, because EVERYONE tells me I should like them, I'm reluctant to even give them a proper chance. |

i never really liked the stones either. Or the smiths.
And i cant stand guns n roses. a lot of my friends are into portishead though, and i just cannot get into them at all. and while I respect Bjork, i cannot listen to her music and enjoy it.
