THE OPENING OF THE TRUNK Moment of inner freedom when the mind is opened and the infinite universe revealed & the soul is left to wander dazed & confus'd searching here & there for teachers & friends. Moment of Freedom as the prisoner blinks in the sun like a mole from his hole a child's 1st trip away from home That moment of Freedom |

My poetry's better than that. Marginally.
I've adapted this one for Kitty's benefit, Pookie. Kitty had a little duck Who didn't have much hair, All that Kitty's ducky had Was feathers everywhere. She took him to the barber's To get a little trim, The barber he just took one look And said "I can't do him". Ducky wanted spiky hair He wanted to be punk Instead he had a bald patch And he looked like a monk. Ducky got a crew cut But he did not like that, He thought that it looked silly, So now he wears a hat! If she likes that one, I have more. One about a one-legged duck and one about a duck's trip to the seaside. |

Here Spookie.I dedicate this to you honey:
POWER I can make the earth stop in its tracks. I made the blue cars go away. I can make myself invisible or small. I can become gigantic & reach the farthest things. I can change the course of nature. I can place myself anywhere in space or time. I can summon the dead. I can perceive events on other worlds, in my deepest inner mind, & in the minds of others. I can I am |

Kitty loved the poem (sonicl's, not Jim Morrison's), but I had to explain punk, monk and crew cut. It's all a learning experience.
I also had to do all the actions with her toy duck. Oh parenthood. |

Did you explain to her that daddy was a punk once?
Kitty had a little duck Who only had one leg And always toppled over When she tried to lay an egg. Kitty put a clothes peg Where the other leg should be Now she is a happy duck, Dancing merrily. Kitty called her Peggy Which is a lovely name For a happy little duck Who is no longer lame. Peggy went down to the shops To buy Kitty a gift The gifts were on the second floor So Peggy took the lift. She bought Kitty some badges To pin upon her coats Then she went down to the river To play among the boats. Peggy met a little drake Who said his name was Barry And peggy fell in love with him And now they're going to marry. They will have little ducklings Called Mary, Tom and Dan And they'll love their friend Kitty As much as any duckling can. So that's the little story Of Kitty and her duck And how one act of kindness Brought them both lots of luck. |
