If you're looking for a magazine that covers "avant-rock, noise, metal, and variations thereof", you could do much worse than try a new one called rock-a-rolla. The articles are good, and there are loads of reviews.
Issue one:  Khanate, Melt Banana, Wolf Eyes, Merzbow, Jello Biafra, 13 & God, The Locusts, Carnival In Coal, Bohren, Der Club Of Gore, Hüsker Dü, Ipecac. Issue two, which is the current one:  Justin Broadrick, Whitehouse, Dälek, Liars, Mike Patton, Mudhoney, Guapo, Earth, Eyesburn, Atavist, SST. Cost is about £3 per issue, and the magazine is published six times a year. The magazine's web page is here. .
