Christmas presents:
Dark Twisted triple vinyl (!!!) Baths - Cerulean CD (total surprise, hadn't heard before at all, but it's a really fantastic record. Easily one of my favourite beat based electronic albums of the year) And I also just ordered for myself, as part of a much overdue project to fill the considerable gaps in my Smog/Bill Callahan appreciation, both on vinyl:

I've only owned 3 of his records before (Knock Knock, Rough Travel For A Rare Thing and Sometimes I Wish We Were An Eagle), and I've obsessed over all of them pretty much as much as any other singer-songwriter records I've heard. Truly stunning, and indescribably addictive. I know at least a couple of tracks from most of his other records, but finally decided it was time to make a start on getting the whole lot.

yeah I have a looooot of his albums too. Knock Knock is probably my absolute fav. Julius Caesar is up there. Sometimes I wish.... is incredible as well. But yeah he's definitely a big fav of mine. I could just listen to his voice all day.

I know The Doctor Came at Dawn a bit, and that was actually the one I most wanted (couldn't find an affordable good quality copy right now), but I've listened to All Your Women Things around a bazillion times because it's fucking transcendent. He really is just too good. Absolutely agreed on the voice. He has a way of delivering even the simplest phrases in such a way that they just stab you in the heart. Sometimes... is narrowly my favourite, but Knock Knock is also INCREDIBLE.

Is this the double LP bonus edition one with the resequenced tracklist and everything? Because if so it's an absolute beauty.

Yeah it is. I still haven't had chance to sit down and listen to it. I'm still perplexed about why Domino were willing to release this remastered on vinyl but not Bakesale and Harmacy. |
