I'm going to a speech tournament in Long Beach. I'm leaving in about an hour and a half. This is my first tournament ever. I'm pretty nervous.
My Event: Humorous Interpretation I've taken pieces of the office, and put them into a coherent "thing" using transitions between flashbacks (I use the Wayne's World thing where they move across the screen and go 'doodleeoo doodleeoo' to tranistion into the flashback). I'm convinced I'm gonna get knocked out in the first round, and I find that that takes a lot of pressure off. I'm excited, and scared, but I think it'll be fun, especially if I get knocked out the first round, because then I can go watch my friends give their speeches. Discuss/Wish me luck/hi-jack thread

It is a lot easier to memorize something that you like as well. I think it'll be easier doing it in front of strangers, because I will never have to see them again. All the people on the team say Long Beach is one of the most fun to go to also, so I'm not gonna stress and have some fun.

my sister did debate, which was apart of speech team.
the debate teacher was my social studies teacher freshman year and he is now my english teacher. really cool guy. freshman year he heard me arguing with some dude about what makes a band "good", and he told me i should come to debate team. i did for a couple days, its an early bird class in the morning but i wasnt really motivated enough, extracurricular activities really get me down. my sister was pretty good, won some stuff. she still argues all the time, is cynical and sarcastic about everything. me and her get it from my dads side of the family.

AAAAHHH!!!
I did terrible! I went too fast, and got tripped up on my lines for my first mini-round but by my third one I did much better but no where near as good as some other people. I didn't make it past the first round. BUT! I was so happy to be there, I wasn't nervous, we all had fun, I got to support the people on the team that got to finals (we got 2nd in Duo!). I got to go watch other HI's at the varsity level, and they were hilarious! It was so much fun, it was just a great (learning) experience.

Yeah, it was great. A great segment from an HI (all done by 1 person):
"That guy over there is emo" "Whats emo?" "Have you ever heard of cross dressing?" "Yeah" "It's like that but with tighter pants and darker colors"
