As someone who used to be a huge Go4 fan, this sort of pisses me off. |

I'd just be happy the band's music is getting more widespread exposure...making a little extra spending cash is a nice plus.
However, I was a little distressed to watch the latest Nostalgia Critic episode and find it preceded by an ad featuring Lemmy Kilmeister singing an acoustic blues version of Ace of Spades. So shocked that I don't even remember what they were advertising.

I think they know the balance of their music vs their cred. better than you.
It really doesnt matter, i dont know if they really need the money to pay for urgent surgery or just an ivory backscratcher, and neither does anyone else

Huh, I guess that's kinda odd considering a lot of their songs are critques of commercialism and rampant consumer culture. Whatever. Great song, in any case.

I just keep telling myself that they only did it as a joke. That's the only thing that makes it ok.

this song was made 30 years ago, perhaps Gang of Four have changed their opinions with respect to commercialism and consumer culture since then? perhaps they now LOVE IT.
probably not though, eh. but why get angry? it's a great song by a great band. who gives a fuck if it's on some shite commercial. don't watch tv and you won't be exposed to any commercials - solution! |

"This heaven gives me me-graines."
Personally, I'm glad this band is making money for a great song they wrote 3 decades ago. I like when bands I dig get successful. I admit it's a bit, eh, "Weird", in a sense, since they always seemed to come off as anti commercial and so on -- but eh, this isn't even as offensive as the last few records they made, so hey. |
