Ran across this today, haven't seen it mentioned here, or on the official SY website. A very diverse (and cool) lineup at this fest.
http://www.jambands.com/news/2011/05...lms-at-ellnora Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo will perform a solo suspended guitar score for Buster Keaton’s 1922 silent film Cops at ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival. Ranaldo’s performance will take place at Urbana, IL’s Krannert Center on September 9, 2011. Guitarist Marc Ribot will share the bill with Ranaldo, performing his score to Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid, which was commissioned by the New York Guitar Festival. The 1921 film is described as “a picture with a smile, and perhaps a tear,” and the film is notable for its bittersweet combination of comedy and drama. Ribot will also perform at the festival with his band Los Cubanos Postizos. Other confirmed acts include: Luther Dickinson, Calexico, My Brightest Diamond, Richard Thompson, Daniel Lanois’ Black Dub, Sharon Isbin, Taj Mahal, the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Adrian Belew, Robert Randolph, The Tony Rice Unit andCindy Cashdollar, among others. As previously reported, the multi-day festival will take place at the Krannert Center from September 8-10.

Cool!
Nobody does "solo suspended guitar" better than Lee.
