Since I hijacked dudewithsuperlongscreenname's thread, a new one:
To acousticrockandsomenumbers: How do you 'cleanly' erase things you don't want on there? For example, I need to put a band logo on the flier, but on the band website, the assbags don't have their logo as a separate .jpg image. So I have to cut it out to get it on the flier. |

There's also nothing easy about having to wait in line for 6 hours in this kind of summer heatwave.

This is a logo that could have a few utilitarian purposes around here, I think.

Well, that's already in a section of black, so you could just open it in painshop and get rid of the bottom of the picture. Drag the bottom of the picture up to just under the logo.
Then in Photoshop, use the magic wand select tool, select the black around it, right click, Invert Selection, and copy. That should have the logo copied, then past it onto whatever you need. |

I used Jasc Animation Shop to do it. I just filled the black part in around the logo with another color and did "replace color with transparent opacity" and saved as a .gif.

Actually I think my way is more complicated than it needs to be. I've never used Jasc but I'm sure you can do what Saturnine said in photoshop. I just get attached to certain ways of doing things, even if they're retarded. I tend to use paintshop as much as I can.

there is a free select magnet tool that allows you to place dot around specific areas and just cut what you want.

Yeah, I see that, but I don't know how to cut it out once you select it.
Someone help me. Now I'm just a drain on society. |

Ok, here you go truncated:
1)locate the tool named ''elliptical marquee'' this should be on the top left corner of your tools palette 2) starting at the corner of your target selection, click, hold and drag, this will make a circular/ellipitcal shape on your desired selection. You may have to try it a few times to get it precise. 3)once you reached your desired selection type following key sequence: shift+ctrl (apple command if on a mac)+i. Now type the following sequence: ctrl+x, this will cut the pixels and you will have nothing but your desired image. 4)Open your other image or flyer in a new window 5) toggle over to your image that you just edited and use the grab tool, located next to the marquee tools, I believe this looks like a hand. 6)simply click on your logo and drag it to your other image, now you have merged the images and place the logo wherever you want it to be. if you have any more questions then just call a friend because Im no good at online tech support. |
