It seems the first couple of albums are the best (Hound Dog Chronicles is all I have). I tried to listen to Tallahassee and it just sounded too clean, over-produced and poppy. The earlier albums are mostly early Sebadoh feeling home recorded demos. More my style

I love the Mountain Goats. I like the fuzzy old stuff and the more produced recent albums. The Sunset Tree, We Shall All Be Healed, All Hail West Texas, Sweden, The Coroner's Gambit, are all darn fine records. I love his lyrics.

I'm listening to a mix of their songs my older brother gave me. I love the live recordings the most.
