Howdy peeps,
I upgraded my external hard drive recently - if anyone's in the market for a (fully functional, of course) LaCie 200 GB USB 2.0 external hard drive (Porsche design) with every pretty much every Sonic Youth / Moore / Ranaldo show on it, PM me. Europeans only please - shipping anywhere else is around $30, so that's not going to be worth your while. Thinking along the lines of 80 euros (includes shipping to anywhere in Europe) - they retail new for 110 and mine's only six months old, so I figure that's a fair price. Of course you're more than welcome to buy it without the shows - I'm merely using this possibility to do a giant B&P, as it were. |

200 GB of SY stuff? nice one. it would be pitty to delete it. did you buy a new one with bigger capacity? mine external hd was way more expensive (obviously coz I bought it 2 or 3 years back). it's 160 GB, only 5 GB left free on it and it's all sy / sy related data. i need new one very soon. i might do the same.

@rappard: I wonder how you store your lossless boots. Only one copy on a harddisk or do you have backups as well, in case of hard disk failure?

thanks for the answer, M, nothing needed, I just questioned where to store all the flacs. I usually burn to DVD and remove them from the harddisk

Bump! I'm probably going to upgrade my 80 GB portable (USB 2.0, 2.5") drive soon - so if anyone's up for 80 GB of with lots of uncirculated Sonic Youth / Moore / Ranaldo shows, PM me or drop me an email at rappard [at] gmail [dot] com.
Please note that (unlike my earlier offer) this offer applies to Americans as well, since airmail shipping will probably be around the $6 mark. |

What's my point? What's your point? Do you think everyone but you is stupid? What's the difference whether you sell shows that have been already burned to a disc or ones still on a hard drive?
Ever since you first appeared at the "old" Sonic Youth messageboard, you've done many, many B&Ps with a PayPal account for "postage." I just regularly dismissed this as you simply being a music lover wanting to share the music (in fact, if you'll remember, I was someone who defended you when others levelled accusations when you first started posting and no one knew you), but in light of these hard drives being sold, I'm starting to wonder about all the many solicitations for B&Ps (over the years) and (now) hard drives. Who in the hell goes through the trouble to buy multiple hard drives, fill them up with lossless bootleg data files, and sell them unless there is something in it for them? You also sold at least one hard drive at the old board that I can remember. Now, you've solicited to sell two full hard drives in this one thread over a period of only a few months. Surely you can understand how this behavior would cause someone to wonder about your motives. |

- I don't sell shows. In fact, you seem to conveniently forget that I've often given away shows for free on the old board, and still do (for instance: ask Lee, board members Pokkeherrie / Tokolosh / Tunic, Dime member Magnix). - Re the two different hard drives being sold: I upgraded my 250 GB 3.5" drive to a 500 GB one, and my 80 GB 2.5" portable to a 160 GB one. What's so hard to understand here? And did I overcharge for my drives? No, I simply went by going prices for second-hand drives on eBay - ask sonicl or matto. - "Who in the hell goes through the trouble to buy multiple hard drives, fill them up with lossless bootleg data files, and sell them unless there is something in it for them?" Well, that's your point of view - my point of view is that hard drives tend to fill up, you know? Given my slightly cramped living quarters, I much prefer one 500 GB drive to five 100 GB ones cluttering my desk (and so does my girlfriend ). - "Now, you've solicited to sell two full hard drives in this one thread over a period of only a few months. Surely you can understand how this behavior would cause someone to wonder about your motives." - well, that's their problem, not mine. Anyway, to imply that I've ever profited from recording, collecting, sharing and giving away shows is ridiculous - the only reason I use PayPal for small B&Ps is that it's much more convenient and cheaper (for both parties involved) than IRC's or international money orders. |

Re "uncirculated": well, yes - what's so hard to understand here? Do you have the 2004-08-30 three-source mix (soundboard + two audience), for instance? |

just to clear things i probably misinterpreted atari's post, I thought he meant that rappard would eventually go "on loop" having to sell even the bigger hd at some point in the future and so on till the end of times, as he keeps getting more and more boots... peace.
