hey folks--as you may have heard my album comes out next week (Mar 20). Matador has an idea they want to try out, and as it's the kind of thing you guys talk about fr time to time anyway, I thought I'd throw this yr way to see what might happen: They want 'fans' to create a "top 10 lee trax" list, and then they'd turn it into a Spotify playlist for folks who might want to check such a list out. They'd compile all votes (or you guys can) and decide the top 10 (ya can consult JennBenn's recent "+30-10" for starters...!). If this worked they'd try to launch the Spotify playlist next week, perhaps on album release day? So there it is, feel free to jump in. How many cards please?
BTW The Album's is streaming now on RollingStone.com: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...debut-20120312 Folks in the UK can also check the album out at Drowned In Sound: http://drownedinsound.com/news/41446...-and-the-tides |

Would love to hear your thoughts on Spotify, Lee (If you would have the time and inclination to share). I for one find it hard to embrace it after reading some other artist's stories in regards to Spotify's unfair practices. Still, I consider this a good idea. Food for thought for those willing to participate (Jen's work is awesome as you say, for instance), and a bunch of fun for those into Spotify.
Makes me very happy that the record's release date is just around the corner. I'd rather wait for my copy to arrive and listen to it on something different than my computer, but many thanks for the free streaming. On the other hand, I suppose it's now gonna be okay to circulate audience recordings of live shows seeing that the album is out there, right? Thinking specifically of the nyctaper capture of your show at Glasslands, in Brooklyn, on December 16th, 2011. Anyway, best to you, Lee. I also cannot wait for your show at Indie-O Fest in Mexico City.

Rain King Mote Hey Joni Genetic Karen Koltrane Skies / Last Night / Second Sight / Dirty Windows NYC Ghosts and Flowers Walkin' Blue Skip Tracer 9 SY tracks and 1 solo...I haven't heard the stream yet, although part of me was mega-tempted to put "Xtina As I Knew Her" on there just off the strength of the live performances. Hmm. And yes, please consult my list.

1.- "Karenology"
2.- "Hoarfrost" 3.- "Mote" 4.- "Rain King" 5.- "NYC Ghosts & Flowers" 6.- "Karen Koltrane" 7.- "Genetic" 8.- "Hey, Joni" 9.- "In The Kingdom #19" 10.-"Wish Fulfillment" I rather not touch the experimental side of Lee's music as that would make it a lot more difficult for me to nail it to ten songs at the moment. Love the lot of it. Even though the spoken word stuff is often consider lackluster by some, I find it beautiful. For instance, the whole piece on "Water Days" was one of my favorite releases a couple years back, I couldn't really understand the sort of indifference it received... |

I'm just listening to the new record now (so excited!), so it's too soon to include new material. Here are my top 10, in no particular order:
Karen Koltrane Walking Blue Rats Track 3 from Scriptures... Not sure if it's actually called Three Mote Rain King NYC Ghosts and Flowers Skip Tracer In the Kingdom #19 Here (from Guitarorists)
