Just get the first one.
That's the best one.
Second one sounds almost identical to the first, but not quite as good.
I do not dig Howl at all.
The most recent one is decent, but the first one os the one for me.

Howl is a little too rootsy/bluesy for my liking. It was praised as a "departure," but I have heard that done better by others and I like BMRC better with some volume and fuzz behind them.

I had better expectations out of this band, I only like a few. Just go to limewire and pick a few songs, and make a mix.

The first album is the best.
I quite liked 'Howl' tho.

BRMC didn't try to ride The Strokes train at all. The NME lumped them together with The Strokes and a few other dissimilar bands because they were trying to convince everyone there was a scene at the time, and all rock bands (no matter what their specific sound) were part of it.

A lot of the songs on BRMC's first album sound like The Jesus And Mary Chain of Psychocandy-era but bigger (in terms of production) and with fuzz rather than screeching distortion; some others, my favourites, are slow, sunburnt drones, like murky shoegazer music. It's a good album but you need to listen to it a few times to appreciate it (apart from the singles).

The second album, Take Them On, On Your Own, is mainly faster and harder, bludgeoning bluesy rock. I think its their best: the songwriting is a bit better, and its subtly more varied (Ha Ha High Babe and Rise Or Fall have effects-laden guitars which make them sound like electro).

HOWL is brilliant in the tradition of following noisy albums with a stripped down, simple detour (like The Velvet Underground's S/T, JAMC's Darklands): classic songwriting and lots of instruments, though their lyrics are clichéd ('man in black / redemption / preachers' Johnny Cash twaddle).

maybe so, byt theyre fucking awful anyways (in my opinion). every artist you mentioned, velvets, jamc, and cash are about a billion times better than that extremly boring rip off band. that dude shoulda just stuck around with the brian jonestown massacre, if youre gonna be in a retro band, you might as well be in a good one.

I love JAMC rip-off bands (see also: The Raveonettes).

Howl is awesome, but honestly, there is not a BRMC album that I did not like (see above statement about loving JAMC rip-off bands).

(lol @ riding the strokes)

AKA "The Big Disappointments."

In any case, I have gotten to play two shows with them, and they were very good at those shows (this was around the time of the first LP) and definitely nice people as well. Original? No, but I don't care. BJM are erratic live, and either fantastic or (more often in my experience) a trainwreck. BRMC were pretty consistent. The only thing that baffled me about them was trying to understand how a two-hour soundcheck was necessary for a three piece rock trio.

they will be playing in Buenos Aires but the ticket is really expensive
50 US dollars standing ticket , they are insane!!!
I 've got the money but I don't wanna pay that much, I should eat first and pay the bills!
and if I buy it it would be like the most expensive ticket I'd ever bought in my life. I'm telling you this because I paid 20 pounds when SY played at the Brixton Academy in 2004.
And that night I saw the BRMC guys and they gave me an access to the backstage just because I'm argentinean.
and not only that I saw him first at The Von Bondi=s show and he shook my hand
Will Peter remember me? and maybe ask for a guest ticket?
greetings people!

Ok, I have a question.

Should I pay $15 to see BRMC and The Duke Spirit the night before I go see Sonic Youth in April?

I just might. I'll have to wear super ear plugs though, because the acoustics at the venue are terrible and I want my ears tip-top for SY.
