after listening to much hype ive finally heard, 'soften your screams into sings', and i must say, i found it absolutley amazing. this is exactly what music has been missing. i mean, there's been lots of folk music, but the majority of it has been some devandra banhart tree hugging lame hippie shit. and we certainly havnt had that folk troubador type ala dylan/fahey/briggs/jansch etc.. maybe ben chasny, but hes certainly not a traditional singer songwriter. this is. this is devastatingly sad minimalist accoustic folk music, with a psychedelic and a visual element. this is in no way related to "freak folk" or whatever the fuck you wanna call it, even though its both folk and sorta freaky. it kinda sounds like the anthems of these brutal times or something, there isnt any hope in that voice at all. anyways, very affecting, and very powerful music. repped.

Dead Western is one of the reasons I enjoy living where I do. This guy is also an amazing visual artist.
