It's kinda like emo, but the guidlines are that any band that makes sounds is considered SOUNDO!

Ugh enough with all of these stupid genre title. Some of them get on my fucking nerves. Prime offenders: emo, screamo, shoe-gaze, college rock, power pop.... whatever happened to the simple titles of rock, pop, punk, and metal.
And for the record, I know you weren't being serious CHOUT, I just figured I'd take advantage of this opportunity to bitch. |

Genres just supply some relief from the ambiguities we find with words such as rock, punk, and metal.
(directed, of course, towards green magnesium) |

Amen Let's make a title without the letter o or the word core on the end of it. Most of those titles come from drunk idiots in girls jeans at a club one night that decide the band playing sounds different than most emo bands so let's take it upon myself to name a new non existant genre, Screamo core!! Yeah. Emo isn't even a genre. It's just pop punk with kids that dress like the guys from Weezer ( who are primarily responsible for all this crap ) |

Actually, I'm more into the Post-Soundo scene myself. You know, where they take sounds to the next level but maintain the roots so you know they were sounds to begin with.

Don't blame the terminology, blame the music/musicians. Style labels exist because the styles themselves exist. People don't make up terminology just for the fun of it.
The problem is the cult of originality that plagues pop music, not the commentators and critics who make up terms to describe it. |

Weezer doesn't look emo. They just look like regular geeky losers. |

I think that the word "style" is more appropriate than "genre." For what you guys are talking about.
