I love the SY EP, and even though it is not a full length album I still consider it SY's first.
I Dreamed I Dream will haunt my brain for eternity. SY came out 40 years ago. Wow. In 1980, the Rolling Stones and Beatles biggest records were just 13-17 years old!!!! Between 1950 and 1980 (30 years!) rock n roll was born, and we went from Little Richard to the Sonic Youth we all love so much! Those 30 years saw the rise and fall of so much inventive music, so many varieties and genres.

That is a good way to put it. It isn't that there is no innovation in music but if you split the last 70 years down the middle, there has been a lot less in the 35 years than there was in the 35 before that. |
