....for the first 4 months anyway.
FARMERS MARKET "SURFIN U.S.S.R" The music of Farmers Market is a mixture of Bulgarian folk music, jazz standards, popular music and humor. Farmers Market has become one of Norway's most popular live bands, playing at all kinds of venues and festivals: jazz, folk and rock. Farmers Market has been releasing music in Norway sporadically over the past decade but their releases have been generally hard to find on U.S. shores. Those who have been lucky enough to hear the outfit have been instantly won over by the unbelievable musicianship and oddball mixture of styles. On Ipecac records. Have listened to this 3 times in a row. Just unbelievable. I really HIGHLY doubt anything will top this this year. I might upload it later if anyone's interested. Or better yet: http://www.amazon.com/Surfin-USSR-Fa.../dp/B0012IWIQ8 |

I hate Patton. Good record label though.
Anyway, it "officially" comes out Tuesday, I have a copy now. I also have the new Melvins.. |

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Yet another thing to add on to the long list of albums I have to buy.

Yeah, but Porky, this is probably better than anything released last year or the year before that either. The only thing that has a chance is probably Secret Chiefs 3's new one... unless some random, new band comes along and blows me away. Who knows? It's already been an excellent year for music.
Pauly, I downloaded those things you sent me but haven't gotten a chance to listen yet. Still stoked on the JACKBEAST though. That shit's great, I've already sent it to out to a few people. Thanks!! |

It's like a mix of Naked City, Secret Chiefs 3, and Dengue Fever.. but more complex.
I just got the new YMCK and Polysics albums too.. damn, this year has been great for music.. there's a new Zazen Boys coming too! |
