What album are you guys talking about now?
I doubt anyone's bothered to listen to DJ Koze's new Pampa vol. 1 compilation... but being a DJ Koze obsessive, I feel compelled to mention it anyway. The track "I Does It (featuring Sensational)" is a pretty dope hip hop track, and much of the record is infused with hip-hoppy beats. DJ Koze is one of the most embarrassingly overlooked artists in the world. He's got a devout cult following, but noone pays him much mind outside of the techno and house scenes. He's a goddamned virtuoso at creating the kind of beat and sample driven tracks that I live for. |

For me White Pony is that album. The one that epitomized my marriage and its ugly collapse. That record still gets me emo every damn time. Serves me right for marrying so young and idealistic

I am a fan of RHCP. I mean, the 80's/90's stuff I love. The stuff post-Californiacation I like. But DM producing could certainly be interesting. I'll be giving it some listens for sure.
You're about my age tho - I mean, you don't like Blood Sure Sex Magic or Californiacation?

Fuck the haters i like Red Hots, a fun LA band. Californication has some masterpiece tracks on it.
Venice Queen.. Californication.. Scar Tissue.. Parallel Universe.. I also really liked By The Way better as an album but those songs on Californication are all time great

This is a natural hot take but Radiohead Burn the Witch is a pile of hot garbage. I certainly hope the album is much better than that shit

I liked Spectre tune i just heard right now. If the new record sounds like that i won't be disappointed. I didn't like the Eraser either BUT the songs were fantastic live. King of Limbs os good studio but also much better live.

Kanye West Says ‘Closet Racism’ Was to Blame for Taylor Swift’s 2009 VMA Win
http://www.etonline.com/news/188048_..._2009_vma_win/ And I must ask.. WHY IS HE STILL TALKING ABOUT THAT? |

I totally agree. As I've said before, I prefer the "Live from the Basement" DVD version to the actual album. I ripped it to cd, and have not even listened to the original album since. To me, TKOL is the live version. I didn't get to see them that time around, so I don't know how the actual shows went, but that video captured something the original recording did not |

I don't know why he's still talking about it, but I pretty much agree. I think the same thing is true for Taylor v. Kendrick at the Grammys. In what fucking universe is 1984 album of the year over To Pimp a Butterfly? Seriously? Nothing against Swift here, but you'd have to be mad to think Kendrick wasn't absolutely robbed. Face it: white model writes her own (super basic, exceedingly simple) songs and gets tons of praise for being an artist. Kendrick Lamar writes his own songs, and they're neither basic nor simple, and manage to unite an entire people against police brutality despite being rhythmically and thematically challenging, and somehow Taylor's "achievement" counts for more? HOW!? Same with Bey in '09 on a much smaller scale. Single Ladies is an infinitely better and more original song than whatever that Romeo and Juliet piece of trash Taylor wrote. It ignited the country, turned into a (somewhat backwards) feminist anthem, and the video makes me hungry for dark meat (sorry, but it really does make me want to eat Beyoncé and drink her sweat). It was a celebration of blackness, of womanhood, of big, beautiful thighs... and its production was pristine and immaculate. Yet Taylor won because she wrote her own shitty lyrics? I think racism is fucking everywhere. Kanye may be off his rocker, but that stunt predicted #Oscarsowhite just like "George Bush doesn't care about black people" predicted #BlackLivesMatter. He may be crazy, but he's not fucking wrong. |

I wasn't hating on ya man. I honestly feel no hatred for the RHCP's themselves. It's more the way they're represented in the media, and the way many of their fans act (like douchebags forever stuck in the first semester of college, which they probably dropped out of after said semester, or never attended at all). I just don't even bat an eye when I read about them anymore. I have fond memories of their '90s output, kinda like my fond memories of Pearl Jam's '90s output, only to a much, much lesser degree. For what it's worth, I will probably always listen to "Breaking the Girl" and "My Friends" when they come on the radio. Anthony is the worst singer I've ever seen, though. Guy makes Kanye West (sans autotune!) look like D'Angelo. They should have stayed in the LA club, borderline punk community, rather than becoming the generation x Aerosmith. But I ain't hatin. Promise. Nothing but love for you and your musical picks. I still carry a bit of a torch for plenty of bands from that era. At the very least, it must be said that RHCP is and always has been better than Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots. |

Listening to the new James Blake album at the moment, kinda sounds like a one man Kid A/Amnesiac revival band to me. Not as diverse as Kid A and missing the jazz influence, guitars, horns. The atmosphere and the vocals bear a lot of similarity though.
