Now Adam can no longer make fun of Greg Ginn's guitar solos. |

Adam, does Kyle still have any t-shirts? His e-bay store is down and I just now noticed this. Got my robe./uuuuuu split coming this week. I'm so late on this but I'm excited for it.

Haha. That's amazing! Thanks for this. We're not even friends on facebook, so that's nuts. I just added him actually. I really like Ginn's playing. He has written some of the best riffs ever. The stuff about his solos was actually sorta me laughing about the stuff Prindle said on his page and running with it. I actually dig a lot of his solos now, he knows what's going on. If you're going to play a solo, there's so many ways you can go: Playing a version of the melody or doing some incredibly wanky theatrics, Ginn avoided all that and often seemed to purposely play "wrong notes" or whatever, which is actually really interesting but took me a while to appreciate what was going on, which is funny because I just read an interview with Ginn on Prindle's page which said the same thing. I like that, though, because his stuff isn't obvious and safe and easy, unlike a lot of the stuff the Flag was linked with at the time. It's funny because when I first heard Flag was when I was like 13 and it didn't make sense to me at the time because I WAS expecting more of the typical "punk" "hardcore" stuff they were linked with and associated with. But actually they've got some really strange, interesting, creative material.. they were constantly evolving. Great band. In general, most people's least favorite releases tend to my most favorite and vice-versa. Also, found out recently Ginn loves kitties, so he's a great guy. Plus he released some of the best albums EVER on his record label. Cool dude. Hayden, just msg Kyle on facebook, he'll add you/msg you/etc asap. He's got tons of shirts left. I actually finally got one about a week ago. Hahaha. |
