Starting a new band this year, already have some songs written with my friend, it's kinda proggy indie rock stuff, with lots of emotional chord changes and weird riffing. Haha. The songs we've done so far sound Joy Division-y but a lot more complex and stranger. They're instrumental. We'll probably keep it mostly instrumental.
I'm also going to hopefully be collaborating in Pennsylvania with Matt from Bubblegum Octopus, Dylan from Giggle the Ozone, and members of Time of Orchids on a band that sounds like early Boredoms (think Wow2)/Happy Flowers type stuff. It's a revolving-cast type band and I was invited to play guitar for them, so I'll probably take a vacation there, and participate. Otherwise, I have tons of new SS stuff written, some stuff demoed on my tape player, but the actual production -- the layering and all that of all the hundreds of microsounds -- is always extremely timeconsuming. Might try to put out some new splits and whatnot before recording the next full length, which I'll probably spend all summer on. Thansk for all the support, everyone. |

Derek, the band is basically a revolving door of musicians that Dylan is friends with or fans of. Dylan's friends with Kayo Dot and Time of Orchids. He's a cool dude. I've been friends with him for about 10 years now, and own all his stuff... his graphic novel is one of the best things I've ever bought, and the new giggle the ozone album "change" is probably in my top 5 albums of the year (though I don't list it since he's my friend). It kinda sounds like if beefheart did space pop. I highly reccomend picking it up.
But yeah this band I was asked to participate in is called Hybegnu. Here's their first album: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/Hybegnu the lineup for that album is Hybegnu is Dylan Sparrow (Giggle the Ozone), Keith Abrams (PAK), Chuck Stern (Time of Orchids), Curt Howard (Ugh God) and Wendell Edwards (scutopus). Chuck is still in the band as is Dylan, but I'm not sure about the rest, he's trying to get me to play, as well as Matt from BgO (who is playing bass live for GtO during some live shows). I am going to travel and play on the 2nd album, if all goes well, though I'm also thinking of going to new york and playing some live shows with gto, maybe doing a mini tour. Pretty exciting. Dylan is absolutely one of my favorite musicians, he is an astounding guitar player, and can play every instrument ever... he writes these insane progressive rock/space opera albums, and he actually records in a studio.. he went to 3 different studios for the new album , just to find which one had the best sound for his tapping. I am absolutely floored by how gifted of a musician he is, he's participated in tons of other obscure bands, he has a Nintendo-song cover surf band that I can't remember the name of now, but I'll post a link to it later. |

The band I was in that I liked most were The Doctor Gloves. Long time ago, haha, 1984/5. Sixteen years old with a three string bass. We played at the London College of Fashion, to mainly open mouths, heh.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu1FhKE3bRY The singer/guitarist, Richard, introduced me to Sonic Youth. I'd like to start a band, even at my age (didn't Trumans Water have a 60 year old drummer at one point?) when I move back to England. I have two band names as possibles: sixteenyearoldgirlfriend or famous authors. |

I don't really post here anymore, but I do have a "project" or whatever called Ghent, and I think there might be people on here who would like it. Maybe. Or not. Whatever.
It's basically glitch-hop mixes of industrial alien soundscapes, but you can call it country for all I care. It's all free, and there are youtube samples as well so you don't have to download anything before finding out you don't like it. Just released my third full-length, Dolphin Anomaly. |

I've never recorded music in my life.
Any evidence that leads against that statement is false. |
