hahaha. It's not "weak" by comparison, man. It's a totally different style film. And yes, DAWN is brilliant (unless you bring up the remake). But I'll tell you this, I'd still consider RETURN my favorite zombie flick. That's my steez. Pure 80s shlock. And Linnea. ps. Land of the Dead sucked so bad. I didn't even see Diary.

PS: Land of the Dead was very different but I liked it... Haven't seen "Diary of the Dead" yet but my brother told me it was his favorite !!!

I'd honstly say that while return isn't better than Night or Dawn, it's better than Day and miles better than either land or diary. i honestly don't think romero has made a really good movie since Dawn. |

word. The only Romero films that I really can think of loving would be Night, Dawn, Martin, and Creepshow 1 & 2.

I flip flop over Day so much. I think my main problem with it is that it never really says anything that's not hinted at in the first two, especially Dawn. It makes this big deal out of the fact they can learn, but that's already suggested in Dawn and, albeit really fleetingly, in Night. Land was a disaster and Diary was one of the worst horror movies i've seen in a long time. I'd say the remake of Dawn was far better than either of those. I'd actually say that, of all the recent crop of remakes the Dawn one is easily one of the best. |

Martin is one of my favourite films regardless of genre. Night and Dawn are great horror movies while Martin is just a masterpiece full-stop. |

Really? I was all geared up to hate it, which is maybe why I didn't end up thinking it was so bad. I thought the whole euthanasia scene was really good and it seemed more like it was trying to update the idea of Dawn rather than simply remake it. Unlike the Texas and Halloween remakes, which just had me moaning and shaking my head all the way through them. |

Hated Texas remake. Though Texas: Beginning I enjoyed.
Loved Halloween remake, BUT (1) I love RZ's style, and more importantly (2) I didnt think of Halloween as a remake, but rather a PREQUEL with a short recap of the original tacked on to the end to appease the younger theater-goers or those unfamiliar with the original film. Most people disagree with me. So whatevs.

It took me a couple of watches but I ended up really loving house of a thousand corpses, but halloween and Devil's Rejects just drove me to despair. I agree though that Halloween more more a homage/prequel than a straight remake. |

see I went into HOUSE OF A THOUSAND thinking "I am going to hate this." And I ended up loving it so much that I watched it again immediately after it ended. I think it's amazing. DEVILS REJECTS I liked. But not nearly as much. But HALLOWEEN (like I said) made me really happy a prequel/etc; and it was a really fun theater experience for me. I'm not sure how I feel about H2, though. I mean, I'll see it cuz I love RZ, but I kind of wish he skipped it and moved on to another project. BUT I'm okay if it's a straight up different story/style (the way HOUSE vs DEVILS was so different).
