Honestly, I'd make a better feminist or women rights-activist than you would. Try reading books with the intention of understanding the content before you go heavy on the inefective sloganeering. I am even being nice enough to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are smarter than what your posts make you come across as being. |

i guess the part that you don't get is that my goal in posting is not to display all the depths of my intelligence or knowledge in feminism. I have no interest in trying to come across as philosophical all the time.
So you know, I've been posting with sense of humour and I'm sorry if I expected you to get it - it´s clealy not your thing. I think it´s rather funny that you´re making personal comments about me (specially considering you know NOTHING about me) rather than the ideas being discussed. So I am forced to take it as you're the kind who enjoys discussing for discussing, provoking and disagreeing for the sake of it, whatever makes you feel smart. As for Beth - I think she speaks more about gay rights than anything else. It is not her job to be deeply political or subversive, after all she´s just a singer in a rock band. But yes, feminists in general would regard her as positive influence on children, specially now that she´s been modelling for magazines as a fashion icon. Perhaps that means a future of less aesthetic fascism. But compared to the majority of bands teens are listening to nowadays they are the closest to actually having a subversive aura, and I am saying that picturing a 13 year old watching mtv. Because in the end she's playing to same teenage audience that watches hip hop videos or talk about britney spears not being skinny enough, or nickelback or something. So in context, if you compare it to the general content of mainstream teenage music - the gossip plays the part of subversion, and I would say, they´re a better influence. so, pbradley, i didnt say music is necessary, I said this kind of message is, when you´re a kid. Unless you want everyone to turn into starbucks drinking yuppies.

Nope. You were being serious most of the time, sweetie. In fact I also noticed that you toned down your initial post claim that they are a subversive alternative in the mainstream since I challenged you to explain it better. It's not for you to decide if I have a sense of humour or not.

OH lol - let me quote - it's not for you to decide if I was being serious or not.
It´s great to see this random name on a screen that suddenly knows more about me than myself. I've been saying the same thing in different ways, I am sorry that you can't see. As much as it is tempting to watch you regurgitate some random bullshit that you might find meaningful, its kind of getting tiring now. I think its time to go back to your drone spiritual thread, I mean you will have more food for philosophical gibberish there, and if you're lucky someone might compliment your vocab.

I don't care who you might or might not be in reality. You keep on stating this and that, yet you give me the impression that you don't like being disagreed upon, therefore you reply in an aggressive manner because you're being called out about certain statements in your posts that I find flawed. If you give a phrase a definite meaning, I would expect you to be able to break it down bit by bit and explain why you wrote it the way you did. Carry on. |

Are you sure? because it seems to me you're the one who can't let it rest. Also I reply in agressive manner because I am a bitch and a part of me enjoys watching you retort (I read it in my mind in a whiny voice and for that I apologyse). I think I have explained myself very clearly a few times now. You can read it.

Did I say they are capable of changing things? In this case, I am using the dictionary meaning of the word, not your own personal delusional meaning. Subversive does not mean capable of actually instauring those changes, it simply means advocating the changes.
Who are you to say what subversion really requires? Subversion is just a concept that could be applied in many different contexts. Are you saying the dictionary is wrong? Because I got a few. Pfft. And you question my intelligence. Actually, bitch has to work and yes this is getting boring. You´re boring.

especially intended to overthrow or undermine an established government. What part of that you don't understand, then? I don't think you find me boring. I think you don't like the fact that I think you talk rubbish, therefore you get all stroppy. Thicker skin here. Bitch. |

Yes, you did imply it. I'm not gonna go back and read your posts again. Hopefully, while you were trembling a little with menstrual contempt for the malesapiens, you didn't edit them. Ok? |

No I didn´t. All I said is that I find it more comforting to see a teenager listen to the gossip rather than katie perry.
