I'll answer the other question - I think the consensus used to be don't put in-print or readily available stuff in here (unless it's the Merzbox or something). I think the general consensus now errs more towards music-stealing cunts, but I could be wrong.

This will probably be the best thing I ever post on here:

Gomma Workshop - Almanacco Moderno Sul Linguaggio Dei Gatti
http://rapidshare.com/files/14586593...nacco.rar.html

Basically, this is highly-composed symphony (by one guy) of toy instruments and tape experimentation, bizarre musique concrete leanings, odd folkloric mullings, Italian lounge, and soundtrack music. Some songs have up to 150 layers on it. Extremely musical and worth re-listens, as you'll always hear something new. Brilliant, highly reccomended, and so on..

That Gomma Workshop - I found that very meh, by the way. I couldn't really be bothered to finish listening to it, y'know? I don't think I turned it off, but I definitely wandered off into another room without thinking about continuing listening to it.

CHARLES IVES CONCORD SONATA JOHN KIRKPATRICK
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_1LmEu7Uyg1...1600/front.jpg

Wild and beautiful recording of Ives' masterwork by John Kirkpatrick, who, in 1939, gave the first public performance of the piece - which had been lying around unplayed since Ives finished it in 1915. Kirkpatrick spent years discussing the sonata with its composer. When asked about sections of Emerson and Hawthorne labeled "(prose)", Ives explained that it meant "not to be evenly played... the tempo is not precise. It is not intended that the metrical relation 2:1 be held too literally." When asked about the countless pencil revisions he'd added to the sonata's privately printed first edition in the years following his first heart attack in 1918, Ives said, "Do whatever seems natural or best to you, though not necessarily the same way each time." As for the variants he improvised every time he sat down to play it, Ives confessed, "I don't know as I ever shall write them out, as it may take away the daily pleasure of... seeing it grow." After Ives' death in 1954, Kirkpatrick became curator of the Charles Ives Archive at Yale, cataloguing thousands of pages of manuscripts, even piecing together fragments of torn pages. He was first to record the sonata in 1945, returning to Columbia for its stereo debut in 1968. Of the three or four recordings I've heard, this one seems to best convey Ives' fearless egalitarianism, subverting conservatory-trained propriety with a shot of Thelonious Monk.

STITCHED-BACK FOOT AIRMAN -- COSTA DEL SOL EP

UK Fall-damaged post-punk band in a Ron Johnson C86 vein on the same label as Marc Riley and the Creepers. "Sleuth" is one hell of a great driving, skronking-guitars instrumental that sounds like some lost UK 79 post-punk single by the Tiller Boys or some Swell Maps offshoot.

From around my old stomping ground, Harlow, home of Stortbeat Records, Urban Decay, The Square, and The Playhouse on a Saturday for a swift pre-gig drink. Also dead near to Stevenage, Welwyn and Bishops Stortford…and all the wonders of those places!

Also, I regret to inform, Harlow was also home to members of Combat 84 and the Jean Harlow pub / club, where the BBC cameras were poised just in time for a bit of the old ultra-violence between the boneheads. Nice bit of footage if you like boneheads cracking bonehead’s heads…! Plenty stocked up of the first couple of 7″ singles by Combat 84 in the punk record shop in Post Office Walk near the market, strangely enough I never did pick those up…perhaps the vibe between the grooves wasn’t quite right, eh!

Countering those naughty people were The Newtown Neurotics, who’s members when this tape was recorded at Harlow and London gigs included Tig, the hippy drummer, Steve Drewitt (who also had hair down to his arse, Joey Ramone style) and the lean punker Colin. Around late 1981, Tig had left to be replaced by Simon, and Steve had a haircut, making the band look a little more clean cut and sharp! They went on to record some great political and personal material, including the tracks on there only LP ‘Beggars Can Be Choosers’, which simply must be heard. This one’s for Nuzz…

Six Organs Of Admittance/Charalambides - Songs From The Entropic Garden Vol. 2

Part of a series of limited LPs on the uber-collector-scum label Time-Lag that were in tribute of Popol Vuh. Really great work from both bands that has yet to see any kind of reissue.

The music can be a little primitive, but Marika Papagika left a legacy of Greek folk music, rembetika, and light popular music that is unrivaled by very few artists of the day. David Soffa did an excellent job of picking out her most popular recordings primarily from the late 1920's. This is a priceless look at Greek Music in the United States during the 1920's.
