Oh man, I loved how similar it was to 3-6. That's the same reason I love Krucifix Klan & Evil Pimp's stuff. But SGP was young, exciting, and was mixing all sorts of Mortal Kombat and Godzilla samples into his beats and shit, and he was pretending that all his albums were recorded in the 90's - it was brilliant.

I don't mind a little lo-fi horrocore ether, hell, I bump EVOL (Detroit rapper) and old Inner City Posse/House of Krazees all the time. I think SGP really fit in on that level.

You guys are discussing Spaceghost but have you heard Lil Ugly Mane's Mista Thug Isolation? That's mixtape of the year material honestly. Very similar to Purrp but I think Lil Ugly Mane's verses are far superior.

I've also really been digging Le1f's Dark York but that's quite a bit different. That whole "gay" rap from NYC thing.

I didn't know Throbbing Gristle would cancel shows at will, or just not show up. I think that's a cheap way of creating an artistic concept for a band, in stead of letting the music speak for you.

I totally agree with this statement!

However......over the years, Genesis P-Orridge has done many things to make people think this very thing and played a big part as to why the band didn't have much to do with each other for so many years.

yeah, TG always used their actions as a means of furthering and reflecting their art, they complemented the music, whereas death grips merely sought to garner attention for their stupid arses. the stuff they did wasn't cool, it wasn't subversive, it was just infantile and pathetic, passing off unadulterated laziness and apathy as some grandiose form of performance art.

the fact that I didn't even talk about their music there is a testament to how fucking awful they are. on that topic never much cared for them anyway, pad's right in calling them nu metal. my friend played me their new record though and it was okay, although pretty much came across as histrionically demented crackhead with a couple of distortion filters meets one bar of an snd track repeated for 5 minutes.
