yep. great fucking flick.
deathproof sucks. worse than NO STARS. pointless bullshit. The great thing about tarantino though is that he makes no distinction between high-brow and low-brow, and will work in whatever genre he feels like. he has even directed some of the most tense CSI shows. that's pretty cool. deathproof was so suck ass, so stupid, as if him and rodriguez just decided to makea shitty movie aping every shitty movie they used to watch back in the day. shit + shit = shit. tarantino has gone beyond being a depalma, scorcese, godard fanboy. jackie Brown is perfect. kill bills are fucking great. (an dI know I am not too big on the second part but I watched them both at the boardies suggestion again over xmas and they do work together) reservoir dogs is bare-bones perfection. inglorious bastards is fucking excellent as well. Pulp Fiction is perfect as is. sure he had some stinks, but hey, who hasn't? scorcese sure has.

When you direct something as life-changing as Taxi Driver then all mistakes are automatically stricken from the record haha.

I just can't believe that everyone likes Basterds so much. It's the only Tarantino flick that I was sorely disappointed with.

I've yet to be disappointed. I love all of them for some reason or another. Even the ones he wrote but did not direct. I dont know .I thought I wasn't gonna like Basterds as much cuz I generally don't like "war movies", but it was so much more.

also I wanted to add about Eli Roth's acting... maybe it seemed "bad," but he's a dude from New England playing a dude from New England. So to a dude from New England (me) it was kind of hilarious. The accent and all.

Eli Roth only got cast in "Death Proof" and "Inglourious Basterds" because Tarantino liked his movie "Hostel". Eli's acting is too cheesy for my taste. |

that might be over simplifying things. Also, no need to put quotes around movie titles.

Great movie in its day. Seemed quite dated when I last saw it. Great soundtrack.

after a few decades "dated" becomes "historic"

I bought Blue Velvet, Sonatine and Battle Royale on DVD because I never owned them on that particular format. I also bought A Ghost in the Shell which I honestly haven't seen surprisingly and will be the next thing I watch.
I don't know why I'm saying this as this is about discussing movies you've just seen but I play by my own rules dammit! |

Really? Oh, I forgot, you don't like Casino (one of my all time favs). NEW YORK NEW YORK is the only Scorsesafdfsdf I even halfway dislike. TAXI DRIVER, RAGING BULL, CASINO, GOODFELLAS, KING OF COMEDY, BRINGING OUT THE DEAD, MEAN STREETS, and his INFERNAL AFFAIRS REMAKE are all amazing. I just rewatched Heat. Love that fucking movie. |

I wasn't too fond of Gangs of New York, I'm not sure if it was the formatting, and editing for fullscreen (EDIT: I watched it on VHS)...but it just never really hit the right beats with me.
What does everyone think about the upcoming Shutter Island so far? Personally I'm pumped. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKp8xBxTol0 |
