Dirty Boots, I think. That or Kool Thing. But I remember thinking Dirty Boots was about the coolest thing I'd ever heard, and I fell madly in love with that grunge chic in the video.

Well, I don't know if it was the first song that I heard by them, but the first song that definitely made me sit up and take notice was their cover of "Superstar." At first I thought that only Thurston fronted the band, but then upon further investigation I heard a couple Kim and Lee songs. They weren't a band that I fell hard for immediately however. I can honestly say I had never heard anyone like them before, and I was no stranger to alt rock. Now, I can't get enough of them. I love all of their stuff from the debut EP to Sonic Nurse, with Washing Machine being my fave album. Rather Ripped is ok too I guess.

the first Sonic Youth song i ever listened to was Teenage Riot.
I bought 'Screaming fields of sonic love' when i was 13 and used to listen to Teenage Riot Candle Cotton Crown Star Power over and over and over and over again, and they are still my favourite sonic youth songs ever! |

Mine was Kill Yr. Idols. Still love it to this day as much as the day I first heard it in high school.

100% Was this song popular in those days? I mean a hit for Mtv? I loved the skateboarding scenes because these guys were playing with long lanky objects all over outdoor public places. But I don't think it was a big hit. Except around here.
