what is it with theft and bass amps/cabs?
i used to play through a stolen one, some dude stole it from his school, then some guy stole it from him and my ex-guitar player borrowed it, and i used to use it...wonder where it is right now. |

From what I've heard, there was a period around that time when just about every noise band in London was playing through gear stolen off of James. Must've had their lorry broken into at some point or something. Payback for writing bollocks like 'Sit Down', I suppose.
The funniest incident of gear theft I can recall took place during the Poll Tax riots, when loads of guitar shops on Denmark Street got looted. I never capitalised on it myself but do remember seeing some guy running down the street with a couple of lovely old guitars in his hands. The amount of two-bit punk bands suddenly playing vintage Rickenbackers on stage was a genuine feature of the London scene for a little while. |

That's kind of my thoughts. I don't know how many people will have in common with me Knife Play and Myra Lee.

I'm gonna see how it goes in terms of how many people vote. At the moment I have about 50 lists but have found that once you get past say the top twenty you're dealing with albums that were only voted for by sometimes as little as two people - which is a bit pointless really. Twenty should work though.

Having to make it five was excruciating. I've carefully thought over my top 10 to represent everything I love in music (because I'm a massive nerd), and now I have to chop it in half! I still love you Pixies, Dylan, Boredoms, Beatles and My Bloody Valentine! Just you know. Not as much as the others.

Oh I forgot about Loveless. What a boring and dated record to be in anyone's top 5 but oh well.

Loveless isn't an album that I've ever had much interest in. I admire it for its impact, and certainly wouldn't call it a 'bad' album, but if anything it seems to have become even more popular over the years. Which, as Atsonicpark, says, is quite odd for an album that has, I agree, dated quite a lot since its release.

My thoughts exactly. I just don't find it very interesting except from a production standpoint. Certainly it's influential but a lot of those songs have always been pretty boring.

I have to say that I'm not a massive fan of Isn't Anything, either.

Just another reminder that, if you haven't already sent your top five in, the deadline is looming so get them in asap. I'm planning on posting the result around Tuesday or Wednesday, giving as many people a chance to participate as possible.
The list is now even tighter than ever so you really should vote if you can. |

Ugh, I was so confused by "best of all time." So really I cross referenced albums I appreciate existing in general against what I listen to most (as by last.fm's tracking). Anyways submitted.
