Can have a solid little fanbase, but outside that fanbase no one really pays attention to them, or even know who they are. Oh yeah, and Glenn Branca is underrated.

Crass and pretty much the whole Crass Records/Anarcho-Punk scene that grew around them. The Mob, Rudimentary Peni, Amebix, Poison Girls, Zounds, etc.
One band completely ignored is Flowers in the Dustbin, who've recently had a myspace made up: http://www.myspace.com/fitd. The first song is one of their new ones, it's not bad but I would recommend the others first. Also, they've also put their entire discography up for download on their website: http://www.flowersinthedustbin.co.uk, I would probably recommend "Freaks Run Wild in the Disco" as a starting point. |

SADUS (pioneers of death metal), PRONG (pioneers of industrial metal), CORONER (pioneers of something that wasn't metal enough for the average metalhead but surely makes me feel good everytime i listen to GRIN)
COCTEAU TWINS, BLONDE REDHEAD, SMALL WHITE... heck, RECS OF THE FLESH |

my band is pretty underrated here in Bulgaria. these kids want only metal, and catchy punkish shit.

Good call on Pere Ubu, and good username.
Public Image Limited. Way better than the pistols, way less respect.

Yeah I'll second Pere Ubu also, though the only cd i have from them is Apocalypse Now (it's live, btw).
But my vote would go to Jaga Jazzist.... these guys churn out some awesome complex music that always sound good, miles away from that crappy electronic jazz of a few years ago. And I'd say Darkthrone too, just to add some classic black metal to the list.... |

I've got one, a very good one indeed in my opinion, how I forgot them I don't know.
Gomez. I appreciate they might not be alternative enough for some of the tastes here, but they've done four studio LP's, all good. They experiment in their own way and have written a lot of excellent songs. Three different vocalists helps make them intersting too. Songs like Here Comes the Breeze, Revolutionary Kind, Shot Shot, Drench, Where ya Going? and many more dhould not be neglected the way that they are!

Agree on PiL. The first 5 albums (including Commercial Zone) are gold.
For me, add: Curve, Essential Logic, Severed Heads, Lush, Cocteau Twins, The Fall, My Bloody Valentine, TISM, Spizz, The Chameleons (UK), The Pop Group, Go Betweens, Devo, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult.... I could go on and on, so I'll stop there and won't bore you. |
